Dive FeCamp – Visit the French fishing town of Fe’camp, This beautiful French fishing village which is situated to the eastern end of the Seine Bay has been a favorite stop over for visiting mariners for centuries. Today this town on the Normandy coast is alive to the hustle and bustle for the French tourist industry, as one of their favourite getaways. It also pays host to the many visiting boats from Holland, Belgium, UK &Scandinavia. It gets so busy in the summer months that it is almost impossible to get a berth for the night.

The Grand Pavois                                        Harbour View from Pavois.                                  Hotel D’Angletterre

ProgressThere is plenty of accommodation available, French or  English, and the Hotel D’Anglettere with its English bar is a  favourite. There is also a camp site, 10 minutes from the  harbour, which has static & mobile homes for hire or you  can pitch your tent. There are also plenty of restaurants and  bars to choose from , Chinese, Indian,Italian, French but no  English. There are even a couple of kebab take aways next  to the harbour, but one of our favorites is The Progress, a  French restaurant which over looks the harbour and  specialises in sea food, its great value for money.

The Progress Restaurant a local favourite for great seafood.

BenedictineNight life – there are some late night bars and there is also a  Casino & night club on the sea front to the western end of  the promenade which stays open until the early hours.  Feā€™Camp  is home to the Benedictine monastery, where the  Benedictine wine is produced, visitors are welcomes for  guided tours and some sampling. As well as being a major  fishing port with a fresh fish market, Fe’camp is full of  history, which can be seen all around. If you look high up on  the cliff tops you can still see all the remnants of the German  gun enplacemmants from the 2nd WW, and up in the town  center there is a memorial to the fallen.

FecampMemorial

After your dayā€™s diving & exploration, relax and take in the late afternoon sunshine at one of the townā€™s many cafĆ©ā€™s & bars that overlook the harbour, all of them do meals or snacks to help you soak up that cold beer or glass of wine.

BoucaneTheSquareBigBenBar

The wreck diving on this part of the Normandie coast can be fantastic and Feā€™Camp gives excellent access to the many WW1 & WW2 shipwrecks dotted along this Normandie coastline, the diving is quite challenging and can be very demanding. We offer 2 wreck dives per day whilst in France, tides & times permitting, and one dive on the dys that we cross the channel.

During the 2nd World War, Fe’camp was used by the Germans as a midget submarine base where many successful missions were carried out. successful missions were carried out. From FeCamp we will venture West into the Bay de Seine or North to the offshore wrecks in the Channel, Or maybe heading Eastwards towards St Valery.

The diving around Fe’camp can range from a depth of 20 meters – 50 metres, depending on the experience of the divers on the trip, and the wrecks you will be diving will be mainly from the 1st and 2nd World Wars. However there are many from before & after the wars.

There are lots of unknown targets that we have still to look at and groups willing to be adventurous diving guinea pigs the results can be rewarding

There are lots of wrecks to choose from when diving over in Normandie, many unidentified and most very rarely dived. The marine life is absolutely incredible, teaming with fish, crabs, lobsters, and free swimming congers. The only thing is, the reason that there is so much to see and look at, is because the French have a strict law which states, that no one shall, whilst diving with aqualung remove anything from the seabed or especially from any ship wreck, be it metal or edible. And this is a strict rule which applies to everyone, so please

Dive Dieppe

Dive Dieppe – South East of Brighton & South of Sovereign Harbour Eastbourne and on the French side of the English Channel, is the historic fishing town of Dieppe. Like most of the harbours along the French coast this harbour was primarily a fishing port which has been transformed over the years into a major working harbour with large commercial ships which include several daily crossings of the  Newhaven ā€“ Dieppe cross channel ferry service operated by www.transmancheferries.com.

This service is now a major gateway to Europe for the British and an access point for Europeans who wish to enter the UK, and it operates all year round.

DieppeportaDieppeportb

This picturesque harbour of Dieppe has a well protected marina which welcomes visiting boats from all over Europe, and it is situated in the heart of the town which gives great access to all the local Hotels, Restaurants & Bars.

DieppeThe long promenade & beach front of Dieppe is an  amazing sight, the eastern end with the long break water    arm which protects the harbour entrance and to the west, the lawns  that are over looked by the many Hotels  that line the way to the  west and at the far   end looking down over the town is the Castle  of Dieppe.

Dieppecanadamonumentscot

During WW2 Dieppe saw its fair share of the action,  In 1942 during the build up for the liberation of  Europe and as a possible trial run for the D Day  landings there was the now infamous and  disasterous Dieppe Raid as portrayed in Robin  Neillands book of the same name ā€œThe Dieppe Raidā€.  Made up from a force of mainly Canadian Highlanders and British Commandoā€™s these troops made an  assault on the Beaches of Dieppe, the result was  carnage, the beaches turned into killing grounds, with whole regiments decimated. Off shore ships were  lost, landing crafts were sunk and the destroyer HMS  Berkely destroyed with great loss of life.

Diving Dieppe.

Its amazing, you travel all that way, cross the channel diving enroute and the depth doesnā€™t get deeper than 40mtrs, your 25 miles offshore and its 33mtrs and as you head for harbour the depth stays between 25 ā€“ 30mtrs, close in you can be diving in the 15mtr range, fantastic.

If you have never dived from Dieppe before, then seriously think about it. It is a fairly new area for us at Channel Diving and it gets better every year we go there.

[slideshow_deploy id=’862’]

[slideshow_deploy id=’862’]

September is felt to be the best time as the French holidays will just have finished so plenty of accommodation at lower prices & the diving is pretty good as vis is usually very good in Sept.

Our Expeditions to Normandy have proved very popular with groups looking for something different and unique! Two World Wars and the Dieppe Daid of 1942 have left the French coast from Dieppe to FeCamp littered with interesting and seldom dived wrecks.

When in France days can be long but enjoyable as we do 2 wreck dives a day on both Slack Water times.

Dieppe or Fe’Camp.

We operate 3-5 day diving holidays to Dieppe & Fe’Camp.  These trips leave from Brighton Marina or Sovereign Harbour Eastbourne on a Monday morning & return Friday afternoon’s, we do 1 dive mid-channel en route to France and on the way back to the UK. When you arrive in Normandy you check into one of the hotels close to the harbour. Whilst in France we do 2 wreck dives a day, if tides and times permit. The diving depths range from the mid 20mtrs – 55mtrs on the mid-channel wrecks, but most of the Normandie wrecks are in the 20-40mtr range.

All trips are priced based on 10 divers max as this is best for space & comfort. Onboard compressor supplying AIR Only, if you want Nitrox then you bring the Oxygen by arrangement.

We can suggest accommodation, in either hotels or gites recommended by previous guests but you book your own accommodation and payment of deposits are the club/groups responsibility.

If the weather blows on your first day and it is deemed to rough to cross the channel then the trip will be delayed until the weather improves. Sometimes this also means a possible change of Harbour to operate from.

Groups will be required to bring all their own Diving Equipment & you must arrive with full cylinders as it will not be possible to fill any cylinders before the first dive as time will not permit. Onboard compressor supplying AIR Only.

Essentials: Donā€™t forget your Passports, Euroā€™s & European Health Insurance Card (EHIC), which gives you NHS medical cover in Europe, available from your local post office F.O.C..

Normandie price list.

A booking is only confirmed once a deposit of Ā£2000 has been received, and the balance is due 8 weeks prior to the start of the trip. if you decide to cancel your booking it is your resposibility to find a replacement charterer for your booking otherwise full amount payable.

Please remember that if we get blown out there are no refunds – the charter is taken for the duration and not individual diving days.

These are not just diving holidays but holidays with diving, when it is not possible to go to sea and dive we reccommend you take the opportunity and visit the local sights, war museums and battlefields and try to experience the atmosphere WW1 & WW2
